Some people are saying January 2020 was the beginning of the worst year ever. While the new decade did get off to a rocky start, it’s not like every single thing is horrible. One example of progress is right here in the Colorado marijuana industry. Thanks to a bill passed by the state senate in May 2019, the start of 2020 an important cutoff date for legal marijuana deliveries here in the Centennial State.
Unfortunately, you can’t just order a joint like you would a sandwich. There are some rules and regulations that still need to be completely ironed out, and your local government will have something to say about it, too. Our team at Pig ‘N’ Whistle is excited to deliver to our patients and customers as soon as you can, and here’s everything you need to know about how we’ll get there.
New Colorado Weed Delivery Laws
1/1/20 was the date on which it became legal for medical marijuana to be delivered in Colorado. For this to be fully legal, the local government also has to allow it. Luckily, local politicians here in Denver generally share a fairly progressive stance about medical marijuana. That’s what makes this one of the world’s centers of the cannabis industry.
On the state level, it was House Bill 1234 (yes, seriously) that makes medical marijuana delivery legal as of the start of 2020. The legal transportation of recreational marijuana should become legal at the start of 2021 as long as everything goes according to plan. There aren’t many marijuana delivery licenses in play yet as things are still getting set up, but the success or failure of medical marijuana delivery programs will affect the rollout of recreational cannabis delivery.
When Can I Get Cannabis Delivered in Denver?
Many local municipalities in Colorado haven’t officially reached decisions yet about whether or not they’ll allow cannabis deliveries on the local level. This is another thing that may slow down the accessibility of widespread marijuana deliveries in Denver. Things never get all the way rolled out as quickly or easily as we wish they would.
Just remember when cannabis first became legal in Colorado and how that went. There are some growing pains and learning periods when the processes are new and people are still trying to figure out exactly how everything should work. After a while, though, the weed delivery business will be a well-oiled machine. If we’ve learned anything from running a Denver dispensary, it’s that this part of the world stays at the forefront of the cannabis movement.
